My logo

For my production I had to create a logo to say that I created the trailer.
At first i tried to think of a way to put my name into it and I decided to go with my surname.
I then played around with what I could link to my surname and I came up with fire.
finally I looked at different font styles for the text and color for the text and image as well. I then looked at effects that I could put on it to make it look more professional.

This is what I came up with for my logo.

some terminology to use in essays

Audience – viewers, listeners and readers of a media text. A lot of media studies is concerned with how audience use texts and the effects a text may have on them. Also identified in demographic  socio-economic categories.

Context – time, place or mindset in which we consume media products.

Diegetic Sound – Sound whose source is visible on the  screen 

Non Diegetic sound – Sound effects, music or narration which is added afterwards

Hypodermic Needle Theory – the idea that the media can ‘inject’ ideas and messages straight into the passive audience. This passive audience is immediately affected by these messages. Used in advertising and propoganda, led to moral panics about effect of violent video and computer games.

Ideology – A set of ideas or beliefs which are held to be acceptable by the creators of the media text, maybe in line with those of the dominant ruling social groups in society, or alternative ideologies such as feminist ideology.

Image – a visual representation of something.

Institutions – The organisations which produce and control media texts such as the BBC, AOL Time Warner, News International.

Mise en Scene – literally ‘what’s in the shot’ everything that appears on the screen in a single frame and how this helps the audience to decode what’s going on.

Non-verbal communication – communication between people other than by speech.

Representation – The way in which the media ‘re-presents’ the world around us in the form of signs and codes for audiences to read.

Sound Effects – additional sounds other than dialogue or music, designed to add realism or atmosphere.

looking at a scene from the film and analyzing the way the different classes are presented.

point - the lower class seemed to have more fun and are high spirited.

sound - upbeat, fun, laughter. all talking together and everyone being able to talk freely. diegetic, country music starts through the scene. 

costume - casual clothing, shirt and trousers. dull colors, bit dirty. shows they don't need a lot to have a good time. Noah and Ali are allowed to hold hand and kiss and express their feelings. 

close up on facial expression, shows smiles and happy feelings.

point - higher class are more snobby and think they are better than everyone else.

the dad makes jokes about being a millionaire.

its a quiet atmosphere.

everyone is wearing white and the scenery is white. this is to show purity and richness and the fact that they think they are better.

Noah and Ali sit together but don't feel like they can act as a couple. 

they were shocked by how much Noah earns at his job. facial expressions show shock and awkwardness.

editing - fast,choppy scenes with lower class party to show the fun, hyperactive activity.

long slow scenes with higher class to show the awkwardness and the snobbishness of the people.

Noah's dad welcomes Ali into the family. Ali's mum tries to push Noah away.

preliminary task

this is the video of my preliminary task. 
The task was a character enters the room and starts a conversation with another character. It took some time to do the editing because every scene had to fit in exactly with the one before and after it. There are a few things that need improving and will be worked on when i do the real thing.

Audience Theory

This was my first time creating a prezi. I based it on the audience and the way the audience see a film or something on TV. There are different ways that the audience take in information they are given through the media.

Sub-genres of Horror:

Comedy-Horror

Comedy-Horror combines comedy with traditional horror movie themes and characters. Because of the subject matter, Comedy-Horror films can cross over into the Black Comedy sub-genre. Comedy-Horror films aim to scare the audience, but also provide comical outlets that let the audience laugh at their fear.

Examples: Beetlejuice, Zombieland, Shaun of the Dead.

Teen-Horror

Teen-Horror is a sub-genre that revolves completely around a teenager or a group of teenagers. Typically, these movies have a large cast and a clear hero or heroine. Teen-Horror films often play upon traditional teenage issues, such as dating and prom, and turn them into suspenseful and thrilling situations.

Examples: I Know What You Did Last Summer, Scream, Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Monster-Horror

A Monster film is sub-genre of Horror that centers on a struggle between human beings and a monster(s). Often, the monster in the film has been created in an “experiment gone wrong.” The monster usually serves as a villain, and the film portrays a hero or heroine that ultimately saves the world from the monster. Although these movies commonly fall into the Horror genre, Monster films have a long tradition within Science-Fiction and Fantasy film as well.

Examples: Aliens, Godzilla, Creature from the Black Lagoon.

Slasher

Slasher film is a sub-genre of Horror film that revolves around a psychopathic killer. This killer stalks and murders his victims in extremely violent and memorable ways. Though it centers on a specific killer, the violence is what sets Slasher films apart from other horror films. A Slasher film will devote more screen time to portray murder and mayhem than a traditional Horror film.

Examples: Halloween, My Bloody Valentine, Black Christmas.

Supernatural-Horror

Supernatural-Horror film is a sub-genre that includes ghosts, demons, or other depictions of supernatural occurrences. Often, Supernatural-Horror films combine elements of religion into the plot. Common themes in Supernatural-Horror films include the afterlife, the devil, and demonic possession. Unlike Religious Thrillers, Supernatural-Horror films are not limited to specific religious elements and can contain more vivid and gruesome violence.

Examples: The Exorcist, The Ring, The Omen.

Zombie-Horror

Zombie film is a sub-genre of Horror film that portrays mindless human beings who are raised from the dead. These films often include a Zombie invasion, and center around Zombies feasting on human flesh. The plot of a Zombie film then revolves around the struggle between the living, and the living-dead. Zombie film not only falls into the Horror genre, but Sci-Fi, Thriller, and Comedy as well.

Examples: Night of the Living Dead, Shaun of the Dead, 28 Days Later.
